Position Summary

The role of the Enrollment Specialist is to support the Special Education Teachers, Directors, and Assistant Directors as well as the newly enrolled special education students.

 

Enrollment Specialists review special education documents for newly enrolled students, administer assessments to students, and provide the new data and recommendations to the Assistant Directors of Special Education and the Special Education Teachers and Case Managers. Enrollment Specialists collaborate with special education and general education teachers, parents, service providers, and other agencies to collect information for reevaluation and special education documentation completion. The Enrollment Specialist collaborates with the Psychological Services Department for input and for reevaluation timelines.

  • Establishes and maintains a schedule for reviewing special education documents and testing students in a fast-paced enrollment environment.
  • Administers assessments and communicates results by all deadlines to ensure students are placed in the correct program, level of support, courses, and curriculum.
  • Establishes and maintains distinguished compliancy on reevaluation reports.
  • Collects input for reevaluation and other special education documents from various sources.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities and training
  • Serves as LEA for special education meetings
  • Write, track, and review special education documents
  • Ensure that instructional levels for new students are assessed
  • Collect baseline data to be used for IEP goals
  • Collaborate with the school administration to ensure compliance for students with disabilities
  • Consult and collaborate with members of IEP teams, supervisors, and colleagues individually, in IEP meetings, or in conferences to discuss and analyze student information for planning, and modifying, and coordination programs
  • Implement and assist with data collection
  • Maintains the confidentiality of students and families
  • Assumes responsibility for the timely completion, maintenance, and filing of reports, records, and other documents
  • Helps to ensure the implementation of state and federal regulations related to special education and policies/regulations established by federal and state law.
  • Attend and participate in school-wide events and school testing as required including the ability to travel as needed

This job operates in a professional virtual environment. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and printers.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Required Education and Experience:

 

  • Current, valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience in special education.
  • Knowledge/background in psychological assessment and measures of achievement
  • Strong knowledge of the identification and monitoring of disabilities under IDEA

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of special education documents, placements, and supports; progress monitoring; special education legal timelines
  • Prior experience making academic progress with a range of student populations and needs
  • Experience serving as a peer coach and mentor
  • Experience modeling interactive, ongoing collaborative learning
