Position Summary:

 

Under the general supervision of Principal, the Assistant Principals will assist the Principal in providing leadership and supervision in administering the educational program at Agora Cyber Charter School. The focus of the Assistant Principal centers on the articulation of Agora’s mission, vision, values, and goals through the analysis, monitoring, and improvement of all areas of school function. The Assistant Principal’s work, rooted in current best practices and research, will include but not be limited to teacher/staff supervision and evaluation, professional development, operations, committees, events, and various activities that are essential to student success. The Assistant Principal collaborates with school stakeholders, including but not limited to other Principals and Assistant Principals, Directors and Assistant Directors of Special Education, members of the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment team, the Family Coach team, and Director of Student Services.

 

The Assistant Principal may serve as Principal in the absence of the Principal.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct teacher observations and support teacher development, in accordance with Pennsylvania’s Educator Effectiveness System, including walkthroughs, clinical observations, differentiated modes of observation, and other related responsibilities.
  • Encourage staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching
  • Implement and monitor employee performance, provide coaching and support
  • Work with the school principal to facilitate hiring with interview teams for all open positions and leadership team positions
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to conduct ongoing analysis of student achievement and growth; use data to inform instructional goals and outcomes
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the school
  • Monitor and ensure that all departments and individual educators are completing designated goals that are aligned with the school’s strategic plans, vision, and mission
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and works with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to fit students’ needs, including students with special needs
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extracurricular activities
  • Facilitate or lead meetings with grade-level or department teams, individual teachers, and other stakeholders regarding student learning and/or professional growth
  • Collaborate with the Professional Learning Coordinators to identify professional development needs and to deliver professional learning in various settings.
  • Promote a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning
  • Encourage parental involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
  • Investigate situations which fall into the category of complaints and makes recommendations or takes action
  • Assist in the organization, arrangement, and presentation of school assembly programs, including staff, family, and student-facing events
  • Prepare class schedules, master schedules, and oversight of extracurricular activities
  • Serve as LEA for special education meetings and complete IEP analysis
  • Organize, manage and/or proctor student testing (Keystone/PSSA/local assessments) as necessary
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school community
  • Assist in ensuring that Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed at the school.
  • Enforce school rules and regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including online teaching and differentiation strategies
  • Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation, and staff supervision
  • Knowledge of best practices for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and learner development in the content area(s) to which the position is assigned
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and data-informed problem-solving cycles
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, communication, and presentation & project management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a focus on efficiency
  • Strong technological skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

 


 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in education related course of study
  • Active and valid Pennsylvania Principal PK-12 Certificate
  • 3 years of classroom teaching experience with Satisfactory ratings

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 3 years of experience within a school academic leadership position

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office and virtual environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
